2026-01-29 06:33

What are RESS and HF Devices?

RESS (Radio Electronic Systems) and HF Devices (High-Frequency Devices) are equipment capable of emitting radio frequencies. This category includes:
  • Wireless headphones and headsets
  • Smartwatches, smartphones, and tablets
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices
  • Radios and transmitters
  • GPS navigators
  • Consumer electronics with communication modules
If a device has the ability to transmit signals via radio channels, it is subject to mandatory technical inspection for compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

When is an RESS and HF Approval Required?

An approval is required when importing any goods containing radio modules. Its presence confirms that the equipment may be used in the territory of Kazakhstan and does not interfere with other communication systems.

Who Issues the Approval?

The approval is issued based on technical expertise and is granted by authorized bodies in accordance with current regulations, including Kazakhstan’s radio frequency allocation standards.

Processing Time

The processing time for obtaining RESS and HF approval is up to 8 working days from the submission of a complete set of documents.

What Documents Are Required?

To submit an application, the following must be provided:
  • Technical description of the device, including model, specifications, purpose, type of radio module, frequency range, transmission power, etc.

Important: Documents must be in Russian or Kazakh, or accompanied by a notarized translation.

Why Is It Important Not to Delay?

Without an RESS and HF approval, your cargo may be:
  • detained at customs
  • returned to the sender
  • confiscated as restricted goods
Obtaining RESS and HF approval is a mandatory part of customs clearance for radio devices in Kazakhstan. To avoid delays and penalties, we recommend entrusting this procedure to professionals.
