Keys: Oversized crane. How to clear cargo that cannot be transported to a temporary storage warehouse

We encountered an unusual case in our practice: a massive crane was being imported into the country — with a lifting capacity of up to 60 tons, a height of about 3 meters, and a length of roughly 20 meters.
Such oversized cargo immediately posed a challenge: according to regulations, the cargo had to be moved to a temporary storage warehouse (TSW), but physically, this was impossible.
The warehouse gates simply did not allow the equipment to turn or enter the premises.

Task

To organize customs clearance of the oversized crane under conditions where it was physically impossible to place it within the TSW area.

Our Solution

  • Prepared a formal request to the Department of Goods Delivery
  • Described the situation in detail, citing relevant provisions of the Customs Code
  • Obtained approval to place the crane outside the TSW territory, but still under customs supervision
  • The crane was fenced off and left under the observation of customs officials
  • All documents were accepted, and the declaration was successfully registered

Result

Despite its oversized dimensions and the impossibility of bringing it into the warehouse, we completed the customs clearance strictly in accordance with the law.
All documents were issued on time, and the cargo was successfully accepted and recorded.

Conclusion

Even the most unconventional or oversized cargo can be cleared without delays — as long as you act within the law and maintain clear, professional communication with customs authorities.
