Shipments from China
How do you organize cargo delivery from China? Which mode of transport should you choose, and how can you optimize transportation costs?
It is no secret that the People’s Republic of China is currently one of the world’s largest exporters. Products manufactured in China often match the quality of Western and Russian counterparts and compete successfully in CIS markets. Although goods produced in China are generally more affordable than their analogues, the final purchase price can be significantly affected by logistics costs — particularly the choice of transportation method and customs clearance.
There are five main methods of delivering goods from China:
- Road transport
- Air freight
- Sea freight
- Rail transport
- Multimodal transportation schemes
When choosing a mode of transport, you should consider the type of cargo, its weight and volume, the final destination, delivery deadlines, and shipment frequency.
The most popular delivery methods are sea freight and containerized rail transport. These options are used both by large-volume shippers (full container loads for a single consignor) and by smaller shippers whose goods share a container (consolidated cargo).
The correct choice of transport and logistics route allows you to optimize transportation costs across the entire supply chain.
The structure of the logistics chain is determined by three key factors:
- Speed
- Delivery cost
- Delivery quality
High-value, high-demand goods are best transported by air, while lower-cost goods in large quantities are more economically shipped by sea or rail.
Delivering goods from China is a complex process. It is advisable to work with a professional freight forwarding company — especially one that provides a full range of services, including customs clearance (import/export/transit). By cooperating with an experienced logistics company, you will receive your cargo quickly, safely, and without damage.

Cost of Cargo Delivery from China
There is no single fixed tariff for consolidated cargo shipments from China.
It is impossible to establish a unified rate for consolidated shipments from different cities in China, as transportation costs depend on many factors, including:
- Type of cargo
- Size and dimensions
- Route
- Mode of transport
- Destination
- Cargo value
- Additional services
Therefore, delivery costs are calculated individually for each shipment.
Cargo Transit from China via Kazakhstan
How do you organize cargo delivery to Russia through Kazakhstan? At which customs post should a transit declaration be filed?
Transit routes through Kazakhstan are widely used for delivering goods from China to the European part of Russia. Depending on the chosen mode of transport, customs transit clearance is carried out at border posts such as Khorgos, Zimunay, Bakhty, and others. The choice of checkpoint also depends on the location of your supplier and the final delivery destination.
To arrange customs transit, you must:
- Provide the required set of cargo documents
- Arrange insurance covering customs payments
- Submit a transit declaration
The processing time for a transit declaration starts from 3 hours. In the event of a customs inspection, processing times may increase significantly, and additional temporary storage warehouse (TSW) fees may apply.
Please note: if discrepancies are found between the declared and actual cargo details, the goods may be held at the border for several weeks.
The main principle of customs clearance is providing customs authorities with complete and accurate information about the goods. Otherwise, the cargo owner may face administrative liability and possible confiscation of the entire shipment.
When choosing a customs representative and logistics company, pay attention to their ability to provide official customs clearance, a full set of closing documents, proven market experience, and comprehensive services.
We value our reputation and that of our clients. Therefore, we do not handle the clearance or transportation of goods from China without proper documentation (invoice, contract, etc.). All goods submitted for transportation and customs clearance must be supported by:
