What do you need to know about the blue corridor?
The “Blue Corridor” is divided into two categories:
Conditional Release and Post-Customs Control.
Conditional Release
Under conditional release, you can retrieve your goods from the temporary storage warehouse (TSW), move them to your own warehouse, and take samples for certification.
This procedure is designed to reduce storage costs for businesses.
However, selling or using the goods is prohibited until the necessary certificates are obtained.
Once the certificates are received, the broker enters the certificate data into the customs declaration.
The customs authority then verifies the certificate’s legitimacy. If everything is in order, the declaration is transferred to the “Green Corridor.”
Conditional release is determined jointly by the customs broker and the importer, when both parties acknowledge that the certificates are not yet available, but the goods qualify for conditional release.
In other words, the decision to apply conditional release is made in advance.
Post-Customs Control
If your goods are placed under post-customs control, you can collect them from the TSW, sell or use them freely.
However, the goods remain under customs value monitoring.
This means statistical data may be collected, or a desk (tax) audit may be conducted.
If, after verification, the system determines that everything is compliant, the declaration will be automatically moved to the “Green Corridor.”
